The tourism audit is one of the key outcomes of the approved tourism framework approved by Council, which sets the foundation for the development of tourism products and routes to promote Hessequa, as the explorers Garden Route, to attract tourists and lengthen their stay in the area.
The main purpose of the tourism audit is to use the data that has been captured in the tourism product database along with the training and skills need surveys to analyse the current state of towns and tourism products within the Hessequa Local Municipality (LM). Based on this analysis, the key strengths and weaknesses are identified for tourism in the municipality. Some key development potentials will be identified, based on the tourism product audit. The following towns were surveyed: Slangrivier, Witsand, Heidelberg, Stilbaai & surrounding towns, Albertinia and Gouritsmond.
