RAIL TOURISM FOR ALBERTINIA

The Atlantic Rail tour to the beautiful town of Albertinia on 29 November 2025 was a huge success.

The tour took passengers from Hartenbos to Albertinia, where passengers experienced the hospitality and charm of the marvellous Bon Game Reserve located at the iconic Gourits Bridge. Passengers were welcomed with delicious food and drinks and had the opportunity to partake in unique experiences at Bon Game Reserve, which includes their popular game drives and farm walks.

This tour was also attended by the Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism, Dr. Ivan Meyer and by representatives of the SABC News.

At the Albertinia Train Station, local businesses showcased their services by means of a mini exhibition. The Hessequa Municipality assisted with the presence of Law Enforcement, while the Technical Services team from Albertinia assisted in ensuring the neatness of the Albertinia Train Station and its surroundings.

Rail tourism is a catalyst for tourism development and economic growth as it stimulates visitation to smaller towns and brings about a renewed focus on domestic tourism.

Hessequa Tourism would like to thank Atlantic Rail, Ivan Meyer, SABC News, Bon Game Reserve, Hessequa Municipality, Garden Route Game Lodge, Harcourts Mossel Bay and Kraaines Restaurant for their part in this initiative.

We call on holidaymakers to visit the Atlantic Rail website https://scrail.co.za/ to view upcoming tours.
