Hessequa Tourism took part in the Fire Awareness Campaign, hosted at the Riversdale Town Hall on Thursday, 23 October 2025.

The event were attended by delegates from Working on Fire (WoF), Western Cape Disaster Management and Fire & Rescue Services, Garden Route District Fire Services, and Hessequa stakeholders, which included Inverroche Distillery, Hessequa Fire Services, CapeNature, MTO, Department of Agriculture and SANPARKS. Learners from the local secondary school attended the event, and learned about fire safety protocol.

The Hessequa Municipal Mayor, Councillor Grant Riddles welcomed attendees, while the Garden Route District Municipal Mayor, Councillor Andrew Stroebel addressed all attendees and frontline personnel, ahead of the fire season.

Fire Safety is a shared responsibility and from a tourism perspective, we must ensure that our spaces are safe for visitors and ourselves as residents.
