Profile
The Garcia’s Mountain Pass is a 12-km long Pass which connects the Garden Route town of Riversdale with the Klein Karoo town of Ladismith. The Mountain Pass is in an excellent condition and has breathtaking views of the Langeberg Mountain and some of the wild flowers known to the region.
About halfway along the Mountain Pass, you’ll find a lovely picnic spot which is regularly used by the local residents. The Garcia’s Pass is one of the least explored Mountain Passes within South Africa – making it ideal for those wanting to explore Hessequa – The Explorer’s Garden Route.
The Garcia’s Pass is also a good option when travelling the R62 via Ladismith, as you will have access to the Blue Flag beaches of Stilbaai – only 30 minutes from Riversdale.
The Pass has a altitude variance of 397m with mostly easy gradients, but the southern side closer to Riversdale can get a bit steep at 1:10. The road is maintained to a high standard and has a good safety record. It is suitable for all vehicles.
