The Senior Tourism and Development Officer at Hessequa Municipality, Mr. Riaan Malan was interviewed by Eden FM on Wednesday, 03 December 2025.
During the interview Mr. Malan touched on key topics which included events, tourism projects, and key visitor experiences.
Mr. Malan mentioned that the Hessequa Tourism Section has completed the installation of 4 Photo Frames in Jongensfontein, Stilbaai, Gouritsmond and Riversdale, as part of a tourism development project, funded by the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism. All residents and visitors are encouraged to visit the Aan’t Heide Walking Trail (Riversdale), Jongensfontein Tidal Pool, Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve (Stilbaai) and Gouritsmond Walking Trail and capture their experience with a photo.
Mr. Malan informed Eden FM listeners that the Hessequa Tourism Section will host its annual 3-KM Riversdale Neon Colour Run on Friday, 05 December 2025. Entries are free of charge, with participants entering via WhatsApp at 0785492090.
On December events, Malan mentioned that Hessequa is preparing herself for some of Hessequa’s most popular events like Die Mooi Mark from 16-18 December 2025, Stilbaai Kelders Voedsel- & Wynfees from 19-20 December 2025, Gouritsmond Mountain Bike Race on 20 December 2025, Bok van Blerk Concert at Stables Eatery & Bar on 22 December 2025, Stilbaai Touchies on 26 December 2025, Jongensfontein Street Mile on 27 December 2025, Official Trans Agulhas from 29-30 December 2025 and Veldblom Concert at Rijké on 31 December 2025.
The must-visit experience Mr. Malan highlighted included the Witsand Nature Reserve, Sleeping Beauty Mountain Trail, Inverroche Distillery and Die Skeerhok Padstal.
Mr. Malan encouraged holidaymakers to use water sparingly as water restrictions are in place.
The interview was concluded by Mr. Malan sharing important safety tips for the holiday season, which included ensuring that vehicles are services before travelling, adhering to traffic rules, driving within the road speed limits, maintaining a safe following distance and to take a break if and when the driver feels tired.
