The Sleeping Beauty Day Hiking Trail covers a scenic trail of 9 km from the Old Toll House to the crest and back. The trail is described as medium and offers a diversity of flora and fauna – with the national flower, the Protrea and the scarce Erica Blenna. The spotting of Cape Weavers; Protea Canary; Cape Siskins; Karoo Prinia’s; Bokmakierie’s; Cape Sugarbirds and Cape Bulbul’s makes for a exiting time along the trail.
The Sleeping Beauty Day Trail has beautiful views and you can refill on water at the 3 ravines, which you’ll find between 1.5km and 2.5km on the trail. The ravines is ideal locations for a well-deserved break as the first 6km on the trail can be very challenging under humid conditions.
The last 1.5km is another steep incline to the crest from where you have the most magnificent views of the Langeberg Mountain.
The Sleeping Beauty Day Trail is managed by CapeNature (permit needed) and is the ideal trail to explore for nature enthusiasts.
Please make sure you follow the golden hiking rules: walk on the trail only; hike in a group; do not harm the plant- and bird life and do not litter. It is also highly advisable to take enough water, energy bars, sunscreen and protective clothing.
Parking: at the old toll house (there is parking for about 5 vehicles).
