Ostrich 4×4 Eco Trail

, , ,

The self drive Ostrich Eco 4×4 Trail is located off-the-beaten-track, close to the Explorer’s Garden Route towns of Witsand and Heidelberg. The route is almost 13km and has a difficulty grading of up to three (3). You will encounter a number of river crossings along the route which can prove challenging during the winter season. The pools left from winter rain ensures the ideal driving experiences as you twist and turn through the kloofs – this keeps all adrenaline junkies happy! The route is well marked, with indications of easier routes to find as well.

Note that you’ll need low range to negotiate the route safely – tread carefully wherever you are; some of the obstacles are extremely tricky, requiring your passenger to hop out and direct you. One moment you might be enjoying a gentle slope to one side and around the next corner you’ll need to lean to the other side.

Steep ascents and descents test you and your vehicle thoroughly. The beautiful winding Slang River makes for some spectacular river crossings along with the flora on the route.

The Ostrich Eco 4×4 Trail is the ideal authentic self drive adventure when you want to escape the crowds and experience the Hessequa region.
