It’s hard to tell if this miniature country landscape creation of Chris Benade, complete with model trains whistling past, amazes the kids or the adults more. Either way, what took him four years to built, will leave you entranced as your eyes follow the locomotives, passenger and goods trains that he controls from behind the computer. They whip past hordes of hills, trails, trees, valleys, rivers, beaches, boats, cars, people, picket fences, houses, churches, town halls and shops, instantly bringing to life the charm we found when reading Theroux’s Great Railway Bazaar, or making us re-watch The Darjeeling Limited for the hundredth time that evening. A must visit attraction along the Garden Route and when in Stilbaai, the lifelong passion that Chris has for his trains is infectious. Entrance is R20 per person.
